Portadown Heritage Tours is a new community based initiative developed to promote Portadown and the surrounding area through tours and published content.

 

Yes, the car parks recommended are:

Fairgreen Carpark, which is free all day. This can be accessed by Duke Street or Shillington Street and is located beside the Council recycling centre.
William Street Carpark, this is pay and display. This is located beside St Patricks Roman Catholic Church.
Magowan buildings Carpark, this is pay and display. This is located just off The Northway (A3).

All these Carparks are within approx. 3-6-minute walk of Carleton Street Orange hall.
Please note that Carleton Street operates restricted parking.

Yes, we do have efficient disabled access into the Orange Hall. There is limited disabled parking in Carleton Street itself and we recommend that you get in contact with us by phone or email beforehand and let us know if you require disabled parking.

The tour of the Orange hall is approx. 2 hours.
The walking tour of the town is approx. 1.5 hours.

Yes, toilets are available in the Orange hall and at approx. 2 locations on the walking tour, although we do not stop for a break. We recommend you use the facilities before the tour starts.

The walking tour has approx. 18 stops with approx. a 3-5-minute walk between each stop.

The theme of the tour will not deviate from what is advertised, although the guide reserves the right to alter the content and route.

The walking tour is suitable for all ages but requires good Motability.

Yes, the Orange hall has 3 levels and lift access is available to the 2 upper levels.

We would suggest dressing sensibly for the predicted weather conditions. So, a raincoat or umbrella can be a good idea with the notoriously changeable weather in Northern Ireland!

Comfortable footwear for the walking tour is also recommended.
